MEMORIALS

“Our Lady of Good Council” in Cherokee Marble. Roughly 28”x36”x66”.

“Our Lady of Good Council” statue carved for the Catholic parish of the same name in st. Augustine, FL. It stands five and a half feet tall, carved from a single block of Cherokee marble quarried in Georgia. The statue sit on top of a columbarium in the parish cemetery. It was carved on site to client specifications. I am grateful to have sculpted this work, as it represents innovation and creativity within the world of devotional art, creating a new rubric for this Marian title that is thoughtful, significant, and dynamic.

“Child’s Headstone” in Appalachian Sandstone. Roughly 10’x13”x16’.

“Child’s Headstone”. My first memorial piece or headstone, carved in West Virginia to celebrate a life that ended much too soon. Carved in native sandstone with design elements requested by the client. Carving this was bittersweet experience, and the stone will stand as a symbol of determined joy, love and hope in the face of tragedy and human fragility.

“Memorial Flame” in Italian marble. Roughly 6”x6”x16’.

“Memorial Prayer” in Italian Marble. Roughly 6”x6”x14”.

The two images above represent a single work; “Memorial Flame and Prayer” in Italian Marble. They were installed flanking a tombstone on either side, and the hands were carved after those of the deceased. This was a particularly beautiful project to work on, and deeply resonate with my sense of how we can remember and show love for those who have passed on.
