These carvings in natural stone represent Nick’s most impassioned artistic expression. More than any other medium this is where the artist finds the most moving experience of creation and discovery (two things that are hard to separate).

Art, and stone sculpture in particular, has been an enduring way humanity has reached toward the infinite and the ineffable mystery ubiquitously felt within reality. Few moments crystalize this human question and quest as do moments of death. How we honor and give space to our departed says so much about us, and contributes to an enduring dialogue about the true nature of things.

As much as I love to freely create according to my own vision and initiative, there is something special about creating work upon requesting, giving form to the desire and vision of others. working to satisfy the needs of my clients often challenges me and inspires me, sharpening my skills and expanding my creative reach. Each of these works is fundamentally a collaboration, and I am honored that they occupy space and value within the lives and collections of others.
